A hearty good day to you my dearest readers but also a warm hello to the last day of Summer!
Today I am going to show you what’s possibly the easiest way ever to design your own mobile cases by using an ingenious trick. Say bye bye to those pricey phone cases and make as many as you want by just using patterned paper!
You heard it! Now, let’s get DIY-ing … or something like that 😛
- patterned paper
- a transparent phone case
So first things first, if you have a transparent phone case then you are set to go.
If you don’t, then be sure to buy one. The cheapest one, doesn’t really matter. Not that a transparent phone case would cost a fortune, or anything like that.
As you can see from the bellow tutorial pictures I have already a paper cover for my mobile. It’s actually a plain piece of paper that came with the phone case when I bought it.
Tip: In order to make your FIRST paper phone case, you just need to measure your phone (L x l) and then use a ruler and pencil to draw it on a piece of paper.
Regarding the paper you should use, my advice would be to use one that’s not too thick, for you don’t want the case to be overcrowded and fell off your phone.
You can choose from a patterned paper notebook (like the one I have), or you could simply browse the internet in search of a cool pattern that you like and print it our. Or, even easier get your fav magazine and find a picture that you adore.
As seen in picture 2 I just used my “model” paper cover to draw another one, just like it, on the back of my patterned paper.
Then I simply cut it using scissors (picture 3) and then place it inside my phone case (picture 5) using the mechanical pencil to mark the areas that need to be cut off (see picture 6).
When you finished with the cutting it means you are ready! Just place the piece of paper inside your phone case and add your mobile phone. How cool is this? You have a “new” phone case to brag about with your friends!
This is actually the perfect solution if your don’t have a phone for which its makers bothered to release tons of different types of phone cases. Maybe you don’t have an iPhone, or a Samsung Galaxy but you do want your phone to be pretty and colourful. This DIY will surely help you achieve that.
However this is also the perfect solution for not spending tons of money on phone cases that are very pricey and you get easily bored by them after a time.
This way you can “change” your phone case with whatever suits your mood or preferences. Add a picture of your favorite quote, or of your pet, a dreamy landscape, your crush 😛 (OK, that’s a bit creepy!) haha
Bottom line: you can’t go wrong with this DIY and it will surely prove useful for when you want a drastic makeover for your phone case 😉
P.S. In case you are wondering, the mobile for which I designed this paper covers is a Nokia Lumia 830 (or Microsoft Lumia 830). And if you are interested in more cool ways to treat your mobile phone, here is how you can make a rainbow pouch.
