DIY: Colourful pouches for Kindle

Ahoi there my dear DIY lovers and book worms! It’s been a long time since I’ve done a DIY project, so today I thought it would be a great time to start again.

As many of your already know, I have a soft spot for colours and for books, so in today’s episode I’m going to show you how you can easily make some Kindle pouches to carry your books around.

Let’s get starts, shall we?

What you need:

• some fabric (coloured in my case)
• thread and needle (or glue)
• buttons
• scissors
• tailoring centimeter (or ruler)

What you need to do:

This is quite simple as you just need to measure your Kindle and then cut the fabric out. Then, by using the needle and some thread you sew the pieces together so it looks like a pouch.

Be careful to leave enough space when you are sewing so the Kindle will fit inside once you finished, but also be careful when using the needle, especially if you are a child.

If you aren’t very fond of sewing you can choose to glue the fabric pieces (I see it’s a new trend), but be careful not to glue your fingers too and use a glue that is water-resistant for when you decide to wash the pouches.

I decided to try out both methods, so the multicoloured dotted pouch is sewed, while the blue printed one is glued.

Tip: If you want to also have a little flap for your pouch be sure to cut the a piece of fabric a bit longer than the other, so you can bend it and use it as flap.

I also decided to add some buttons, but in my case they are only decorative ones. If you want to go for the whole “usable” buttons thing, then you might need to make a little loop from thread or even fabric and sew/glue it to the flap so it can be placed over the button.

This DIY can be also used for an iPad, tablet or any other kind of gadget that you have, but bare in mind that its only purpose it’s to be pretty and add an extra protection to your device. You should always keep the cover on and then place your device in.

Still, if you have just bought a certain device and you don’t have a cover you can use the pouch until you get one. At least your Kindle (or whatever device you have) will be protected from scratches and dust.
